Cathy's Toile, (2019),
International Homeless Day, Sticker Design, 10cm x 14cm.
This drawing tells the story of Cathy Ward, a young working class girl, portrayed by Carol White in Ken Loach’s influential film, Cathy Come Home. First aired over 50 years ago, the drama offers a graphic portrayal of the treatment of an ordinary family by public authorities, as they grapple with homelessness. At first we see Cathy’s optimism upon moving to London, finding a job and falling in love. However, her dream of living in a stylish flat with a rubber plant is short lived, as her life soon begins to fall apart.
